The hydro heat advantage in the home

There are many different ways of using hydro heat in the home, and many of them offer the best value and most comfortable home heating imaginable.

One of the basic set ups is usually called hot water radiant floor heating. This consists of a network or grid of water pipes running under the floor - set in concrete or the wooden joists - through which the heated water is pumped. This has the effect of turning the whole floor into a big radiator. It is easy to imagine that this offers even, comfortable and comforting heat.

Other radiant water heat systems use a similar principle but pump the water to a single location in a room - a wall hanging radiator or a baseboard unit for example. These in turn radiate warmth through the room.

The big options in hydroheating come in deciding how you will get the water hot. Many different fuels will do the job - gas central heating boilers are a classic choice (running on natural gas or LPG). But oil can be a very effective heating fuel choice with the new efficient boilers that are now available. Options that are usually considered more environmentally friendly include wood burning stoves, and of course solar heated water.
