Many people are keen to bring the joy of radiated heat into their homes, but are put off by the upheaval - pipes need to be fitted everywhere and powerful boiler needs to be purchased. Wall mounted electric heaters might be just the solution to this problem.
The truth is that even people who want radiators have a large choice of fuel source to use. Choosing one of the many commercial electric radiant heat systems on the market means you simply connect to your electricity supply.
At their simplest these units are electric radiant heat panels that you fasten to the wall. They have the look and feel of any wall mounted radiator, and give off heat in the same manner. This means that they radiate the heat rather than force the air around by means of a blower - this is, most people agree, a much more pleasant way of heating your home.
These kinds of electric heating systems for home use may not be the most cost effective systems available because getting heat from electricity is always going to cost more than getting it from gas, oil or coal.
That said, the units use various tricks to keep costs down - they may for instance work when electricity costs are lowest and heat up some substances that give off heat steadily during the day. They are also hard to beat for convenience - for many this more than offsets the few dollars more it costs to run them.
