If you are looking for the comfort and control of heated flooring, then electric heat strips under tile floor might just provide the perfect entry point.
What do we mean entry point? Well, placing these strips is more likely to be one of the warming systems electric floor heat can provide - it is not likely to replace your entire home heating.
It is possible to have your home heating provided completely from underfloor, but most often this is hydronic radiant floor heat. The hot water pumped around tubes set under the floorboards or tiles can be very cost effective.
Residential floor heating systems that are water based take some planning and effort to install. Not so with the tile strips, providing you are tiling the room, it is done at the same time.
A problem with tile floors that puts many people off extensive tiling is the coldness underfoot in winter - places low voltage strips under the tiles puts a stop to this problem for good. And although they probably will not provide enough heat to dispense with your heating system in the coldest part of the winter, they will probably mean you use your other heating source much less.
