There is an almost overwhelming choice of heating solutions available on the market these days. Here we will look at one popular option - electric baseboard heaters - and see why it might be a smart move.
First of all the type of heat is a bonus. All baseboard radiant heating systems (water-filled and electrical) heat the room by mainly radiant heat. This form of heat is generally agreed to be a better type of heat than that used in forced air systems. It does not have the same air drying properties and it also gives off a kind of human-friendly heat that allows families to lower the thermostat without feeling less comfortable.
One of the key advantages of residential electric baseboard heaters over say, baseboard hot water heating systems, is convenience. An electric system runs on electricity, so there is no need to have water pipes installed and a special boiler fitted.
So, although hot water baseboard heat might be slightly more efficient (though electrical systems these days are good), it cannot match the electrically powered versions for convenience.
So with an electric baseboard heat system you get the good heat and efficiency qualities of baseboard heating systems without the inconvenience of water filled systems. In other words, the best of both worlds.
